Dinner at Rare The Restaurant in Ashrafieh

We always feel like tourists in Beirut whenever we go to new restaurants every now and then to get out of the routine. Our recent visit was to Rare restaurant in Ashrafieh, in front of St. Nicolas Church. The place is located in an old house from the 1800s, with a modern touch thanks to some decoration items. We loved the table mats which were the menu at the same time. The food at Rare is very varied with some unique and various items.
We started with a bunch of appetizers:

• The Avocado, Crab and Grapefruit Cake was perfect! We loved the mixture of these ingredients together. The result was very fresh and delicious. We ordered some lemon oil dressing that made it very juicy and yummy.

• The Oven Baked Tomato and Goat Cheese Tart was succulent. The crust was thin and crispy, the goat cheese gave a sour taste and was the perfect combination with the big tomato slice on top. The tart was accompanied with green leaves salad with balsamic sauce.
• The Kama, Rocca and Mixed Greens Salad was good. It was the first time that we try the Kama and they were tasty. The green leaves were extremely fresh, the pomegranate and pine nuts gave the salad a crispy taste and the balsamic dressing was very adequate.
Now for the main platters:
• The Steak Frites was a healthy platter but we cheated with the fries. The sauce was light and the steak slices were well seasoned. The fries were thick yet very crunchy.

• The Hamburger was a delectable platter with its fine quality patty, mushrooms, caramelized onions and aged Cheddar cheese. The bun was fluffy and it was a great result from a restaurant not specialized in burgers.

We can't finish a meal without desserts. We ordered a Banoffee Cream Pie. It was amazing; very creamy and with an adequate sugar dose. The crust should have been crispier but that was not an obstacle to enjoy the yummy filling.

Rare is celebrating very soon its 10 years anniversary and they were able to last that long because of their healthy platter combined with good quality.
